What is Juneteenth Independence?

The Independence Juneteenth Celebration is a three-day event filled with music, culture, food, and community connection. Each year, residents and visitors come together to honor history, celebrate freedom, and uplift local voices through live performances, vendors, and cultural programming.

What to Expect!

Thursday, June 19
  • 10:00 AM – Opening Ceremony & Guest Speaker

  • 11:00 AM – Freedom Award Recipients

  • 12:30 PM – Performances (local artists, choirs, and bands)

  • 6:00 PM – Legacy Dinner at Truman Habitat for Humanity (Young School)

  • Includes live music, dinner, and an abbreviated film showing of I’m So Glad

10:00 AM – Juneteenth Legacy Parade at McCoy Park Pavilion

  • Route: South on Spring St → Turn on Fairmount → Continue to Noland Rd & Truman Pkwy

Legacy Dinner

Celebrate Black history, culture, and local leadership with an evening of music, dining, and recognition. The Legacy Dinner honors community leaders making a lasting impact in Independence.
